SF Live, a groundbreaking initiative supported by San Francisco’s Office of Economic and Workforce Development (OEWD), set out to revitalize San Francisco’s live music scene and cultural identity. With a $2.5 million investment from the City of San Francisco, Plinth Agency was tasked with creating a bold vision for SF Live and executing a 360° Digital campaign to bring it to life.
Partnering with three esteemed production companies—Noise Pop, Illuminate, and the Union Square Alliance—Plinth marketed 32 shows throughout the city, transforming SF Live into a cohesive, vibrant, and engaging brand that reactivated neighborhoods and celebrated San Francisco’s creative culture.
As a team of local creatives deeply invested in the city’s recovery, Plinth approached this project with personal passion and a mission to ensure that San Francisco’s cultural heartbeat remained strong.

Strategy
Bold Branding for a Bold Mission
Plinth Agency designed SF Live’s branding to be unapologetically bold, modern, and reflective of San Francisco’s cultural identity.
• Logo Design: The SF Live logo captures the essence of live music, resembling a speaker in motion, thumping with energy. The circular design conveys movement, rhythm, and a sense of community, evoking the excitement of a live performance.
• Colorways: The color palette draws inspiration from San Francisco’s sports culture, incorporating hues reminiscent of the 49ers’ red and gold, which resonate deeply with the local community and evoke pride and strength.
• Typography: Clean, modern fonts were chosen to ensure a striking yet approachable look, appealing to both longtime music fans and new audiences.
• “BE. HEAR. NOW.” This is our mantra, our brand position, and our battle cry to San Franciscans: “Come as you are” and experience local music live, in the here and now. It’s a modern twist on Richard Alpert’s iconic book, “Be Here Now,” This nod to the city’s cultural legacy honors the generations of locals who have nurtured and sustained its vibrant live music scene.
Every visual and design element was created to ensure SF Live stood out in the crowded event and entertainment market while maintaining a strong connection to San Francisco’s roots.
360° Digital Campaign
